Example projects from the real world:
1. I want to take on a major musical - spiritual role at your church. I will audition for your choir and show my readiness to sing major solos within the music chosen for each service. Ultimately, I would like to serve your congregation by performing the post service recessional which would seamlessly transition to a 20- to 30-minute recital for silent contemplation, or simply for musical enjoyment. Or both…
2. I’m a performing violinist. In addition to loving the performer’s life, I love introducing young children to the joys of all musical forms. I recently created two music discovery curriculums that I can tailor to your school (community center) to create 1) a regular meeting place for musical discovery and joy that that we will do together… and 2) a musical discovery and joy program for children and their parents – creating a family music hour that they can do at home.
3. Experiences fade into memory, and tend to become abstractions of what actually happened. Combining original music, video, choreography and spoken word, “Peter and Molly: A Sister in her Brother’s World” tells the story of my evolving relationship with my brother Peter, who is severely autistic. This project lays out my perspective as his sister, reflecting and regaining perspective on the development of our relationship as we both grew and evolved over time.
Class materials, reading assignments, and any digital documents or templates will be sent ahead of time. A PDF of the class slides will be available after each class.
