Rae de vine
Manager of Program Operations for Education at The Metropolitan Opera
Rae De Vine (she/they) is a NY-based interdisciplinary artist, educator, and facilitator who engages with the arts as a vehicle for healing and building community, and deeply believes in the transformative power of the arts in education. As a vocalist, poet, and performer, they have participated in workshops and readings at Cave Canem and The Leslie Lohman Museum, have appeared Off-Broadway, and as a featured vocalist in iconic venues including The Apollo, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and Jazz at Lincoln Center. As a Teaching Artist, Youth Mentor, and Facilitator with a number of community based and arts organizations, Rae has worked with artists, educators and activists, adoptee and refugee youth (in both English and Spanish) and relishes the opportunity to share with and learn from students of all ages. As an administrator, they enjoy the rigor and excitement of planning with, coordinating, and supporting educators and school communities; often searching for ways to go above and beyond typical programming, working with school and community partners to develop deeply intentional and culturally relevant special projects and events
A self-proclaimed “perennial student”, Rae is naturally curious and always looking for ways to stay on their growing edge, and expand their learning community. A graduate of Manhattan School of Music and Marymount Manhattan College, Rae was an Innovative Cultural Advocacy (ICA) Fellow with the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) and an EMERGENYC Artist with The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. Rae is also a member of Actors’ Equity, The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, and the Music Advisory Board of The Bronx Music Heritage Center.
