What role does the Internet play in branding?
It's just-- the Internet plays a role in branding in that it's just another means to show up. You know, they say success is-- 90% of success is showing up, right? That's what the Internet allows you to show up in a way where in the traditional sense, in this three-dimensional reality, the real world, you can't really make an impression on somebody if you're not there. Right? You're not there performing at that one time, that one night. But, if you put it on the Internet, it allows people to see you any time without you actually having to physically be there. And that's exponentially more powerful because you could be sleeping, you could be cooking food, you know, you could be hanging out with your friends, and then people are consuming an aspect of you.
Now that that gets a little creepy for some people, and I get it. But it's just a more efficient means of finding people that can support you, because at the end of the day, you know, they say, the thousand true fans, right? Well, back in the day, that was a lot harder because your thousand true fans had to be the people who live in your town. But nowadays, your thousand true fans could be in a whole 'nother country and may not even speak English, you know? So that's powerful.
