02: 1-3-5 Year Plan for PR

So speaking specifically to either young artists or artists who are developing their own PR strategy, how do you even begin to know where you want to be in 15 years and then how that might inform a PR plan or strategy?
So I think for someone starting out, a 1-3-5 year plan would probably be more realistic.
So one is sort of “what can I see right in front of me in the road?” And that's pretty easy to then reverse engineer project management. What needs to happen to get me there?
3 to 5 years might take a little more imagination. And I would encourage people to err on the side of dreaming a little big.
I think my, my personality, I'm more of an activator than an ideator. My husband is an ideator so he'll have, you know, "Can we knock out this wall on the third floor and put in a whole wall of windows?" ideas. And I'll be the person who says, "Okay, here's the contractor we need to call. Here are the things that we need to figure out."
But I think when you're thinking about your own life, let's dream big. And I would so encourage you to think about what you want for your life instead of what you're afraid could happen. I think that focusing on where you want to go and what you want that to look like and to really visualize that in as much detail as you can. I think it's very hard to be it if you can't see it in some way.
And particularly right now, you know, as the industry is shifting so much in some very necessary ways, I think that we need to be comfortable using our imaginations and our creativity and our artistry in kind of this other way to really think about where we want to be headed.
